Competent Person Training

OSHA requires a designated "competent person," meaning someone capable of identifying hazards and authorized to correct them, on excavation and many other operations. We train your supervisors to meet that bar.

Our excavation and trenching program covers soil classification, protective systems (sloping, benching, shoring, shielding), daily inspections and the OSHA 1926 Subpart P requirements, with practical, jobsite-ready instruction.

Excavation is the most common reason clients call us for competent person training, but the OSHA requirement shows up elsewhere too, including scaffolding, cranes and rigging, and fall protection. If your supervisors need to be designated competent person for more than one of these areas, we can usually cover them in a single visit instead of scheduling separate sessions.
